One thing people expect in the box isn't in ours. It was a decision rather than an oversight, and I would rather explain it here than have you open the box and wonder.
No wall charger
The device charges over USB-C from any standard 5 V source — the same plug you use for your phone, a laptop port, a power bank, the USB socket in a car.
You almost certainly own three or four already. Building the cost of a fifth into the price adds cost without adding value, and it adds one more thing to a drawer that already has too many.
There is a second reason, and it's the more interesting one.
A mains plug pack sold in Australia is a regulated electrical product in its own right. It needs its own approval, its own registration, and its own compliance paperwork — separate from the device it charges. Including one properly means carrying that whole burden. Including one improperly is how cheap imported electronics end up with chargers nobody has checked.
Our device runs at extra-low voltage from a USB source, which sidesteps the question entirely. You get to use a charger you already trust from a brand you already know.
What is in the box
- The device itself
- A pair of red light goggles — one pair, with every device
- A USB-C charging cable
- A premium travel case
- A printed user manual with the full specifications and safety information
The goggles used to be missing too
An earlier version of this article argued that we would rather tell you plainly to buy a proper pair of eye protection than include a token one. We changed our minds before the first shipment left the factory.
Eyes were the one place where "buy your own" was the wrong answer. If we are firm enough about eye protection to put it in the safety warnings, it should not be a separate purchase. So it isn't.

The general principle
If something is in the box, it is there because it earns its place. Everything we leave out, we tell you we've left out — on the product page, in the FAQ, and here. You should never be surprised by what you open.
That's a smaller idea than it sounds, and it is most of what this business is.
